Spelling, grammar and article mistakes.
Their going to the market tomorow, and me and him will bring a umbrella. She dont like the rain…

“Ain’t no use asking,” Tom said. “Sea don’t answer.” He walked slowly. Slower than before…
Repeated words, spacing and punctuation.

A grammar checker reads a draft and points at spelling, grammar and punctuation that may be wrong, then lets you decide. A word processor underlines some of the same mistakes. A full writing app such as Grammarly or LanguageTool also suggests style and tone. This page stays narrower: small fixes, labelled as a rule or as a model suggestion, and nothing changes until you accept it. The hard case is fiction, where a fragment or a dialect spelling is intentional. Fiction mode is the setting for that. You can use it as a free grammar checker and as a punctuation checker for English prose.
Every check starts with a fixed set of high-confidence rules, before any model is asked.
An AI model may propose more edits, but only on the first 1,000 words. Longer text keeps the rules only.
The grammar checker does not rewrite the paragraph by itself.
Bookeen shows one suggestion at a time, keeps fiction settings separate, and drops fixes that would change a name, number or date.
Grammarly and LanguageTool also coach tone and style across a document. Use them when you want that broader pass. Use this page when you want a grammar and punctuation check you can accept line by line.
Use Fiction mode so the grammar checker does not flatten a voice.
Use Standard when the draft should read cleanly.
Use it to see mistakes, then fix them yourself.
Use it as a first net, not as the edit.
A checker doesn’t know what you meant. Accept a suggestion only if the corrected sentence still says what you wanted to say.
A misspelling is usually a clear error. Grammar and word-choice suggestions are judgement calls, so keep your own phrasing when it is deliberate.
Fiction mode keeps dialect, interrupted speech and stylised repetition. Even so, it is a guess: ignore any suggestion that flattens a character’s voice.
Character names, places and invented words can look like mistakes. Ignore those suggestions and never accept a change to a name by accident.
A built-in set of rules catches common mistakes with high confidence: doubled words and spaces, spacing around punctuation, “could of”, a lowercase “i”, “a” versus “an” and a list of frequent misspellings. They run on every check and are labelled Rule.
An AI language model reads the passage and proposes small edits. Each edit must quote your text exactly, must be short, and must not change numbers, dates or names. Edits that fail these checks are dropped, and rule-based fixes win whenever two suggestions overlap. These are labelled Smart.
It does not rewrite your paragraphs, check facts, detect plagiarism or detect AI writing. For a heavier polish, use the AI Humanizer or the Story Writing Assistant.
Bookeen has tested this tool on a small set of examples, not on a published benchmark, so treat it as a second pair of eyes rather than an authority. It will miss some errors and flag some correct text.
Paste a passage from Word when you want a second grammar pass beside Word’s own underlines.
Copy a section from Docs, check it here, then paste back only the fixes you accepted.
Use Grammarly when you want its broader style suggestions in the browser. Use this grammar checker when you want rule and model fixes you accept one by one.
After the grammar is settled, polish wording in the AI humanizer or keep drafting in Bookeen. A grammar check does not spend Studio credits.

Yes. This free grammar checker does not ask you to sign up. It is limited to 6 runs a minute and 30 runs a day for each visitor so the tool stays available.

Yes. The punctuation checker rules include spacing around punctuation, and the model may suggest other punctuation edits. Accept only the ones that keep your meaning.
The grammar checker suggests small fixes rather than rewriting sentences, and nothing is applied until you accept it. Ignore any suggestion that doesn’t sound like you.
Yes. Fiction mode tells the grammar checker to respect dialect, interrupted speech, fragments and stylised repetition. It may still flag some of them, so review each suggestion.
The grammar checker supports English only. Text in other languages is not reliably checked.
Bookeen does not store the text you check. The AI suggestions are produced by a third-party model provider, so don’t paste confidential text.

It has been tested on a small set of examples only, and no accuracy figure has been published. Expect it to catch many common errors and to miss or wrongly flag some.
Grammarly also suggests tone and clarity across your writing. This grammar checker stays on spelling, grammar and punctuation, and you accept each fix.
